Thanks to Jesus and the New Covenant we have with God through Him, our righteousness does not come to us by law. Really, no ones right standing with God has ever come through obeying the law, because in order to be in right standing with God through the law you would have to keep the WHOLE law ALL the time. That's right, you could never sin once. That is the standard for being in right relationship with God. We can't do it. No one, except Jesus, has EVER lived a sinless life, therefore all have fallen short of the glory of God and are under condemnation of death. All except those who believe on Jesus as their Savior.
Our righteousness comes through faith alone, not our works.
Romans 3:28 Therefore we conclude that a man is justified by faith without the deeds of the law.
Romans 6:14 For sin will not have dominion over you: for you are not under the law but under grace.
Now we are righteous and holy in our inner man (our newly created spirit) as a free gift of God. Jesus works put us in right standing with God once and for all. Our works are nothing. Our works gain us nothing with God. Our righteousness is like filthy rags. But Jesus righteousness has been given to us in our spirit man and there we are never guilty of sin.
I. John 3:9 Whosoever is born of God does not commit sin [speaking of our spirit man]; for His seed remains in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God.
Romans 6:22-23
But now being made free from sin, and become the servants of God, you have your fruit unto holiness, and the end everlasting life. For the wages of sin is death, but he gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Romans 6:18 Being then made free from sin, you became the servants of righteousness.
Romans 10:4
For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to everyone that believes.
Galatians 2:16
Knowing that a man is not justified by works of the law, but by the faith of Jesus Christ, even we have believed Jesus Christ, that we might be justified by the faith of Christ, and not of the works of the law: for by the works of the law shall no flesh be justified.
Galatians 3:11
But that no man is justified by the law in the sight of God, it is evident; for the just will live by faith.
I. John 3:3
And every man that has this hope in Him purifies himself, even as He is pure. [in our spirits, not our flesh].
Your sin is gone. At the new birth it is wiped out- past, present, and future. That is the only way you can be saved from your sins. It comes through Jesus blood.
Galatians 3:13
Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, cursed is everyone that hangs on a tree.
The original covenant (which we now know as the New Covenant oddly) was one of faith. The law was given later to the Jews to keep them a moral people to send the Savior through their blood line. The law was given to show us our utter failure and lack so we would trust in God's mercy, forgiveness, and love.
Galatians 3:17 And this I say, that the covenant, that was confirmed before of God in Christ, the law, which was four hundred and thirty years after, cannot dis annul, that it should make the promise of none effect.
Galatians 3:26
For you are the child of God by faith in Jesus Christ.
Galatians 3:21
If there would have been a law that could have given life, verily righteousness should have been by law.
I. Timothy 1:9
The law is not made for a righteous man.
No, it is made for the unbeliever to show them their sin and lead them to God. As believers, God puts a new heart (a spirit that desires no sin) within us. From that heart core we are suppose to learn to live, instead of from the old unrenewed flesh that desires everything contrary to God's truth and will.
Romans 7:6
But now, we are delivered from the law, that being dead wherein we were held, that we should serve in newness of spirit, and not in oldness of the letter.
I. John 3:24
And hereby we know that he dwells in us, by the Spirit which He has given us.
Hebrews 7:19
For the law made nothing perfect, but the bringing of a better hope did; by the which we draw nigh unto God.
I. John 3:4
Whosoever commits sin transgresses the law: for sin IS the transgression of the law.
Hebrews 9:22
.... and without the shedding of blood there is no remission of sins.
I. John 3:5
And you know that he was manifested to take away our sins, and in Him is not sin. [We are in Him.]
I. Peter 3:18
Christ died for sin once for all, the righteous for the unrighteous to bring you to God.
If you think you've sinned too much, you are believing a lie.
Leviticus 26: 44
And yet, for all that, when they be in the land of their enemies, I will not cast them away, neither will I abhor them to destroy them utterly, and to break my covenant with them: for I am the Lord their God.
Numbers 23:19
God is not a man that He should lie, neither the son of man that he should repent: He has said and will He not do it? or has He spoken, and will He not make it good?
John 6:54
Whoso eats my flesh, and drinks my blood, has eternal life; and I WILL raise him up at the last day.
Romans 8:1
There is therefore now no condemnation to them who are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh [our spirit being], but after the Spirit. For the law of the Spirit of life has made me free from the law of sin and death. For what the law could not do in that it was weak in the flesh, God sending His Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh: that he righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.
Christ's righteousness has been fulfilled in us at the new birth. You can never be out of right standing with God again. You can get out of right standing with others and destroy your life and theirs, but in your spirit man you are sealed until the day of redemption. God has given you the free gift of ETERNAL life through all that Jesus did.
Hebrews 9:15
And for this cause he is the mediator of the New Covenant, that by means of death for the redemption of the transgressions that were under the first covenant, they which are called might receive the promise of ETERNAL inheritance....
Hebrews 8:13
In that He said, A New Covenant, He has made the first old.......
Romans 3:20
Therefore by the deeds of the law there shall no flesh be justified in His sight: for by the law is the knowledge of sin.
Our salvation is so secure that God has already seated us with Christ in the heavenlies.
Colosians 2:13-15
And you being dead in your sins and the uncircumcision of your flesh, has he quickened together with Him (Jesus), having forgiven you ALL trespasses, blotting out the ordinances that were against us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to the cross; and having spoiled principalities and powers, he made a show of them openly, triumphing over them in it.
Romans 7:4
You also are become dead to the law by the body of Christ.
The law doesn't bring us salvation. It never could and it never will. It is our teacher, that is all. Jesus is our Savior, not ourselves and our works of the law.
