Throughout the centuries since the church was birthed, the most important foundational element that our faith stands on has been somehow lost in religion, and law keeping; just as it was with the Jews when Jesus came into this earth. Just as the Pharisees thought that they, "will find life in the law", so do most Christians today think they will find eternal life through their own self righteous works. Jesus spoke very clearly against this works righteousness. He spoke of a righteousness that was from God by faith. Martin Luther rediscovered this truth when he translated God's word from it's original languages to his own German. Faith righteousness is not a new teaching; Jesus taught it, Paul taught it, the disciples taught it, but it has been something most in the church fail to understand. I believe the reason for this is we fail to pass down teachings on covenant. If we don't understand the covenant God has made with us, how can we understand how we have been, "made the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus". And so we go about trying to create our own righteousness with God, getting back up under the law as our means of salvation, when Jesus clearly told us that eternal life we cannot get from the law. "If you are guilty in one part of the law, you are guilty in all of the law."
I will attempt to explain generally and then in detail:
- the covenant we have with God.
- the difference between the old covenant and the new.
- Why we are no longer under the old covenant.
- Why we have a new and better covenant in Christ Jesus.
- What purpose the old covenant can play in our lives now.
I sincerely hope you will read these teachings, as they will bless your heart and change your life forever if you get them.
