Freeing of the Slaves
Slavery in the United States was abolished by on December 18, 1865 by the Thirteenth Amendment to the Constitution. How many slaves were there on Dec. 19, 1865? You would think none, right? Wrong. Some never learned the truth, and thus never experienced freedom. Some knew and believed the truth but chose to live the same way they always had. It was comfortable to them.
Now, supposing there were several plantation owners who were going to be ruined by the Emancipation Proclamation, it is easy to see why it would be in their best interest to keep the slaves believing they were slaves by either hiding the truth from them, or telling them that they were going to be free but not yet. By doing so, the slave owners could kept their control over their slaves- unchallenged.

So it is with the body of Christ. Christ gave us our 'Emancipation Proclamation' from the dominion (slavery) to Satan and this world's system. We have been freed from sin, sickness, spiritual death, poverty, and everything that came with the curse. But if we don't hear the truth, how can we make it fruitful in our lives?! Some of us have heard the truth and can't seem to believe it because we don't deserve it, or that's not what Pastor so and so says. Some of us have been told that we must earn our own freedom through our own good works. Some of us have been convinced that we are still slaves and that we won't be freed until we die.
But, the Bible tells us something different!
Galatians 3:13-14 Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law by becoming a curse for us, for it is written: "Cursed is everyone who is hung on a tree." He redeemed us in order that the blessing of Abraham might come to the Gentiles through Christ Jesus, so that by faith we might receive the promise of the Spirit.

2. Corinthians 5:21 For he has made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.
Romans 5:15 But not as the offense, so also is the free gift. For if through the offense of one many be dead, much more the grace of God, and the gift of grace, which is by one man, Jesus Christ, has abounded to many.
Romans 5:17 For if, by the trespass of the one man, death reigned through that one man, how much more will hose who receive God's abundance provision of grace and of the gift of righteousness reign in life through the one man, Jesus Christ.

One farmer asked, "But what if the news spreads?"
"Don't panic. We have another barrel in our gun. We may not be able to keep them from hearing the news, but we can still keep them from understanding it. They don't call me the 'father of lies' for nothing. We still have the potential to deceive the whole world. Just tell them that they misunderstood the Thirteenth amendment. Tell them that they are going to be free , not that they are free already. The truth they just heard is potential truth, not actual truth. Someday they may receive the benefits.
