I didn't want to post this beloved because i know your not gonna like it, but woman were created to do what man told them. I didn't make this up God did. But he has changed all that, he has allowed woman to be treated as equals, which is fine with me.
Gardener,
That is ridiculous. Did you even read what I posted? God created woman to be Adam's companion, not slaves. In Genisis 2:18 God said, "It is not good that man should be alone; I will make him a help mete for him." As I explained in detail above, the word help mete there has nothing to do with an inferior, subordinate, slave, etc. It is the same Hebrew Word that is used to describe God's relationship with mankind; companion, partner. What did God want Eve to be a companion/ partner to help Adam do? Genisis 2: 20 "And Adam gave names to all cattle, and to the fowl of the air, and to the every beast of the field; but for Adam there was not found a help meet for him." God intended for Eve to help Adam rule over creation. Genisis 1: 28 "And God blessed THEM, and God said unto THEM, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it; and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moves upon the earth." And (as I explained above) subdue means to bring under control by influence, training, persuation or force. So you can plainly see that God did not make women, as you said, "to do what men tell them to".
Women are just feminine men- thus the word to describe us that ADAM gave to Eve was WO- MAN. woman means literally a man with a womb. Adam was lonely. That is why he wanted a companion (help mete) for himself like he saw all the animals have. Genisis 2: 20 "And Adam gave names to all cattle, and to the fowl of the air, and to every beast of the field; but for Adam there was not found a help meet for him." From that verse apparently Adam was expecting to come across someone like him to be his companion just like the animals had. He was obviously disapointed when he never found one. The Lord saw this (see Genisis 2: 18) and decided it wasn't good for Adam to be alone. When Adam saw the companion that God created for him, what was his response? Genisis 2: 23 And Adam said, This is now bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh; she shall be called Woman, because she was taken out of Man." Women were taken out of man and therefore are a part of man. We were created from man, and therefore are equal with him because we are a part of them. Genisis 2: 24 "Therefore, shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife; and they shall be one flesh."
What's another word to describe us? feMALE, did you notice the male in there? What's another word to decrive a woman? sHE- did you notice the HE in there? The only significant difference between men and women are the ballance of hormones in their bodies. Men and women both have estrogen and testoterone in their bodies; men more testerone and women more estrogen. These hormones are what causes children to grow up sexually so that they can reproduce. Testosterone causes men to grow hair on their chests etc, develope deeper voices, grow larger muscles etc. Estrogen causes women to be develope breasts, retain body fat in hips and thighs, etc. Testosteone causes men to be masculine and estrogen causes women to be feminine. That is what attracts us to each other. But testosterone and estrogen get stereotyped with a lot of other things that it hasn't been proven that they cause. For example:
1. It is said that testerone and being "masculine" causes men to be less emotional, however logic says this is untrue and you can't find this in God's word either. In fact Jesus and God the Father are according to scriputure very emotional (so if being sensitive, as you said, makes one weak then you are calling God weak).
God created both men and women in his image and that includes emotions. Genisis 1: 27 "So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them." Men have strong emotions too or else they wouldn't be capable of love, kindness, goodness, etc. Men being unloving is a result of sin. Matthew 24: 12 "And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold." God is love and he expects us to be conformed into His image like He originally created us to be. I. John 4: 8 "He that loves not, knows not God, for God is love." God wants us, no commands all of us, to love because the opposite of love is sin. Romans 13: 10 "Love works no ill to its neighbor, therefore love is the fullfilling of the law." If you are being loving you don't break any commandments of the law. In the Bible Jesus wept, was angry, was sad, was joyful, was caring, was loving, was moved with compassion a lot. Being compassionate is indicative of being very sensitive. Compassion- sypathy for someone who is suffering or distressed in some way.
For him to be MOVED in this way indicates strong emotion that caused him to act. Born again men should not prescribe to such worldly influence because God's love has been shed abroad in their hearts for a purpose; which is to show it. Romans 5: 5 " And hope makes not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us."
2. It is also said that testerone makes men more physically aggressive, but the Bible calls that a sin of the flesh. When a man is given to violence he is sinning. So obviously that is not a part of being masculine; caused by testosterone. Being violent does not make you a man, it makes you a sinner.
Psalm 140: 1
Deliver me, O Lord , from th eevil man: preserve me from the violent man;
Psalm 11: 5
............... but the wicked and him that loves violence His soul hates.
Luke 3: 14
..........Do violence to no man, neither accuse any falsely; and be content with your wages.
Galatians 5: 19
Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these, adultery, fornication, uncleaness, lasciviousness, idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, evnyings, murders, drunkeness, revelings, and such like:
3. It is also said that men are more "visual" than women, but the Bible says that it is a sin to lust. So obviously God did not create men more visual. No, the works of the flesh (sin) is the sin nature, not God created male nature. The sin nature does not apply only to men, women have it too. We are all tempted in every way that is common to mankind because of our sin nature. Women and men are tempted to be lustful and they both have to choose whether to give into that temptation or not.
Psalm 81: 12
So I gave them up unto their own hearts' lust: and they walked in their own counsels.
Proverbs 6: 25
Lust not after her beauty in thine heart.......
Matthew 5: 28
But I say unto you, That whoever looks on a woman to lust after her HAS committed adultery with her already in his heart.
Galatians 5: 16
This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and you will not fulfill the lust of the flesh
2 Peter 1: 4
Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these you might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.
1. John 2: 16
FOR ALL THAT IS IN THE WORLD, THE LUST OF THE FLESH, AND THE LUST OF EYES, AND THE PRIDE OF LIFE, IS NOT OF THE FATHER, BUT IS OF THE WORLD.
Galatians 5: 19
Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these, adultery, fornication, uncleaness, lasciviousness, idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, envyings, murders, drunkeness, revelings, and such like:
So why are men like this? Because that is their sin nature and the devil and the worlds system tells them its okay to be that way, that the are just being men. Its not okay according to the Bible and I choose to believe the Word over the world.
Galatians 5: 24
And they that are Chritst's have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts.
(Because our old man was crucified with Christ so we shouldn't walk anymore in that old man's ways).
'Yeah but women are so different than men in these aspects so this must be what men are because they are men'. Have you watched the news lately? Because women are increasingly becoming more sexual, violent and hard hearted (emotionless/less sensitive). Have you seen the increase of women who murder, rape, have casual sex, watch p*rn, beat their partner etc? I've noticed and so have many people. And it leaves them scratching their heads saying, 'I didn't think women were like this!' But its the sin nature so of course they CAN and ARE like that. And since the world keeps telling everyone that there is no sin and everything is about self instead of others, women are giving into the same sin nature that most men have already been indulging in over the centuries. And lets not forget that women were stoned for doing such things (which is a good reason why they didn't) while men got by with these things all the time under the male to male protection of (its okay for you and I because we are men). Men have excused their sin nature while condemning it in women. Throughout history women have been greatly punished, shamed, disgraced, excomunicated from churches and communites when they "indulged" in their sin nature (flesh) but men slap each other on the back and call their same behavior manly.
Really? Well following that line of logic, I guess minorities really aren't equal either because there hasn't been one black, hispanic, asian, etc that has become president in the USA either. Now isn't that ridicuous thinking? Why do you think there hasn't been someone who belongs to a minority group become president of the USA or the Queen of England? Because prejudiced and ignorant people think that minorities are not equal in intelligence, worth, quality etc. to hold such positions of authority. Now all that is changing and I think people of differing ethnic groups will be able to soon run for these offices and have a good chance of winning, yet IMO, it will still be a while (mostly because of Christian men in this country who believe these same ridiculous lies about women) until a woman will be elected President of the United States.
That is not love and you can't find that in the Bible. God is an equal opportunity God. He created all of mankind equal; men and women, black and white and all other colors in between.
It wasn't very long ago that men used the Bible to condone slavery in this country. I won't go into detail about that again because I believe I already covered that in a prior post.
I already dealt with this above but I will add that my emotions, and God's emotions don't hinder our judgement. As a mother who has authority over her children, my emotions do not hinder my judgement in raising them because I don't allow my emotions to hinder my judgement in raising them. If they do what is wrong they have consequences period. I have raised my children well and as a result they are very well behaved children who don't cause or get into trouble, are always a joy to their teachers to teach. And BTW, those teachers are usually women who have authority over them while they are at school. Unfortunately, there are overly sensitive men and women in our government who want to strip both parents and teachers of their authority over children to discipline them and that has produced increasingly immoral, rotten, violent, bullying, bratty children that will be feared tyrants whenever it is their turn to govern our country if there isn't a huge change here right now.
First off, if you would read all that I posted prior most of your questions have already been answered. Jesus TREATED women with equality in a "mans" world. He allowed women to sit at his feet and learn of him (be his disciples) in a time when women were forbidden to be educated either spiritually or otherwise. He spoke to women in public when it was forbidden for them to speak publically to anyone except their own husband. Jesus healed women just like he did men. Jesus publically forgave womens sins even though women were considered evil daughters of Eve in the 1st century. Jesus told both men and women to stay in Jerusalem until they received power from the Holy Spirit to become his witnesses (preach the gospel). Jesus sent two women to tell his male disciples that he was alive again even though womens testimonies were considered inferior to a man's. Although women of that day were considered intellictually inferior, Jesus told Martha that her sister Mary chose the good part by sitting at his feet to learn. When the Pharisees brought a woman caught in adultry to Jesus to be stoned and asked what he thought of that treatment of her according to law, Jesus told them in essence that they better stone themselves if they stoned her because they were just as guilty of adultry as her for every time they lusted after a woman. He forgave the woman instead of shaming her. Jesus pushed the limits of mens traditions (that they claimed was God's will concerning women) and elevated women to their rightful place again by becoming a curse for us. He demonstrated his belief of our equality throughout his ministry years here on earth even before he redeeemed us physically from that curse. But here are some more scriptures for you that proves that God says we are equal:
Acts 10: 34
Then Peter opened his mouth, and said, Of a truth I perceive that God is no respecter of persons:
Galatians 3: 28
There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for you are all one in Christ Jesus. And if you be Christ's, then are you Abraham's seed, and heirs according to the promise.
If we are one in Christ and all have been given Christ's authority on the earth; if we are all equally important members of Christ's body (which the Bible says we are) then it is evident that we should not only be treated as equals, but ARE equals.
Both men and women are given the same rights, promises, spiritual gifts, salvation as men are. That in itself makes us equal.
Adam and Eve were both given authority over the earth. Believers- men and women- have been given back their authority over the earth through Jesus. Satan now does everything he does here illegally. Both men and women have been given authority over him (Satan and the powers of darkness etc.).
Both men and women have been commissioned to preach the good news to all the earth. Both men and women have been given God's authority to use here.
No, you can't find that in the law. That book (which happens to be written by a man) was written to fight against prejudice in the church that is there because of human tradition and mistranslation and misinterpretation of scripture. It is not the only book of its kind. There are many that have been written after intelligent, godly people have studied out the subject for themselves and found the truth that God intended us to live in instead of lies propigated on the church to keep women under mens feet.
You are right, its not God that has a problem with women being treated as equals because we are equals and He created us that way.
